Dr. Julia Goldmark endured a lengthy custody battle with her husband during which he made false claims that she was crazy, leading the court to side with him and causing Julia to lose custody of her child and the light of her life.
During their marriage, Julia was allegedly abused both physically and mentally, by her husband, and she was granted a protective order after filing a police report, but this was short-lived. The false accusations by her husband kept piling up, and he filed a retaliatory protective order against Julia and he was given sole custody. She found herself jailed multiple times and unable to see her son after four years of trying.
Julia ended her life on July 13, 2025. Julia came to the US from Germany in 2002 on a Fullbright scholarship, and earned her masters degree at Columbia University and later her Doctorate of Psychology at Pace University. She had multiple published research papers.
Julia is remembered as a scholar, a traveler, and most importantly, a mother who never gave up on her child.
