New Yorkers: We Need your Court Stories before the Start of the 2024 Legislative Session in January

Share your Story

We collected over 1,000 survey responses and each survey participant has a deeply upsetting story behind it. As we compile the data to show the routine patterns of misconduct and coercion, we know that we must also support the data with some anecdotal stories to show the devastating impact the courts are having on New York families.

Please consider sharing your story in one, or both, of the following ways to educate the public and to support our legislative efforts.

Written Profiles

Please email a two-page summary of your case. We understand it's very hard to compact this to two-pages but no one will read them if they are too long.  You can be anonymous if you wish, and please do not disclose anything you are uncomfortable publicly disclosing. Download the detailed guidelines below.

Videos

Please record a video ( up to 10-minutes max) on the background, facts and damages associated with your case. You can draft, practice and edit, and you can use a black screen, voice distortion or a pseudonym for anonymity if you wish, and certainly exclude names or any other identifying factors. We intend for these videos to be posted to a YouTube channel, but they may also be edited to help show the patterns and practices in these courts. See guidelines below as what to include.
